LOCATION

Covering 18 Hectares, Heron Island lies on the Tropic of Capricorn (23 degrees south of the equator), 72 kilometres off the coast from Gladstone, central Queensland.

Regular flights are available from Australian capital cities to Gladstone with Qantas. From here it's an asy boat or helicopter ride to the island.

Kids Club Junior Rangers Program

Suitable for children 7 to 12 years old.

If it's school holidays, or by special arrangement at any other time, you can sign the children up for the Heron Junior Rangers (7-12yrs), where they'll get up close and personal with a wonderful variety of marine creatures, and explore the forest and woodlands and the fascinating coral cay of the reef. During turtle season (October - March), they can join the Queensland Turtle Research program's research and monitoring activities.

Kids Club Junior Ranger activities contribute to the earning of a variety of colourful embroidered badges, from the "Three-Kilometer Badge" through to the highly prized "Junior Ranger Badge".

Diving and Snorkelling

Diving suitable for children 14 years and over.
Snorkelling suitable for children 8 years and over.

A fun activity for the whole family; grab your snorkel, flippers and wetsuit, and swim straight off the beach and over coral gardens teeming with marine life. If a couple of members of your family are a little more serious and would like to get into the diving then no problem! There are combined snorkelling and diving trips to suit everyone. Head out to the famous Heron Bommie and see a kaleidoscope of colour literally teeming with exotic marine life.

A fantastic way to see The Great Barrier Reef without having to get your feet wet! Perfect for families with children who are too young to head out to the reef - depending on the season the semi - submersible lets them get up close and personal with baby turtles, white and black tip sharks, huge manta rays and many more amazing sea creatures!
