READERS VOTE TNQ PROPERTIES THE BEST IN THE LAND
Thursday, 3 November 2005
Healing Waters Spa at Voyages Silky Oaks Lodge won the Best Destination Spa for the 2nd year in a row and Voyages Lizard Island took out the Best Resort Accommodation in The Australian Travel & Tourism Awards 2005 announced in Sydney last week.
Voyages were the only operator to receive multiple awards and also had a number of other properties in the running on the night, including Longitude 131, the Waldheim Spa at Cradle Mountain Lodge, Wrotham Park Lodge, and Bedarra Island.
The awards were initiated by The Australian newspaper last year to celebrate excellence in the domestic tourism and hospitality industry.
The Travel & Tourism Awards are voted for by readers -- the travellers who keep Australian hotels, resorts and tour operators in business.
During the four weeks of the Travel & Indulgence section's promotion, thousands of readers voted for their preferred operators in 12 specialised categories.
This award for Lizard Island follows the recent announcement that the resort was voted No. 1 hotel in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific by readers of Travel + Leisure magazine in the US for the third year running.
Voyages is an Australian travel company, providing experience-based holidays in spectacular wilderness locations including the Red Centre, Queensland, The Kimberley and Tasmania. Voyages operate award-winning properties such as Ayers Rock Resort, Longitude 131°, Lizard Island, Silky Oaks Lodge and Cradle Mountain Lodge.
