HINTERLAND AVIATION AWARDED TNQ ROUTES
Tuesday, 10 January 2006
Voyages have selected Hinterland Aviation as their carrier to service TNQ resorts: Dunk, Bedarra and Lizard Islands.
The decision follows an in depth review of air services by independent experts from the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation (CAPA).
Macair, who currently subcontract the services to Hinterland, will hand over the routes on February 1, 2006.
Hinterland will operate regular services departing Cairns Airport for Lizard Island (27km off the coast near Cooktown), as well as Dunk Island (4km off the coast near Mission Beach). As usual, guests staying at the exclusive Voyages Bedarra Island resort will be transferred by launch from nearby Dunk Island.
Existing Macair bookings and prices will be honoured, with Voyages and Hinterland to announce a new schedule and fare structure following ongoing negotiations.
The Hinterland Aviation terminal is situated at Cairns Airport's "General Aviation" terminal. Guests arriving at Cairns Airport domestic or international terminals will be met by Hinterland staff and transferred to their lounge in the General Aviation terminal.
