LONGITUDE 131˚ WINS TOP AWARD

Monday, 11 September 2006

Voyages Longitude 131˚ has taken out the 2006 HM Award for the second year in a row, winning the unique accommodation category from tough competition such as Daintree Eco Lodge, as well as two other NT properties: Faraway Bay and Seven Spirit Bay.

According to new Voyages' Executive General Manager Operations Darren Cann, the award is recognition of the luxury service and style that guests enjoy, as well as the spectacular wilderness of the dual World Heritage listed Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park.

"The combination of this incredible location and one of the world's most luxurious wilderness camps makes for an experience quite unlike any other," said Mr Cann.

"We're tremendously proud of our achievement against such quality competition."

Nominations for the 2006 HM Awards for Hotel & Accommodation Excellence came from people who work in the hospitality industry. A judging panel of 40 leading industry experts sifted through hundreds of nominations to short list the finalists, before choosing the best across 36 categories.

As part of the Voyages stable of remote wilderness operations, Longitude 131˚ was one of seven properties in the running to take home an award. Only Voyages Cradle Mountain Lodge in Tasmania was successful in beating home quality opposition.
