VOYAGES ACQUIRE NEW TRANSFER BOAT FOR HERON ISLAND

Wednesday, 1 August 2007

Voyages Hotels and Resorts has acquired a new state of the art Catamaran for the daily transfer service to Heron Island. The new Reef Voyager, which commences its first service on Friday August 3, boasts a smoother ride and faster transfer time to the island and will replace the existing Reef Adventurer II launch.

Resort general manager Alistair Cooray said that, "passengers will be delighted with the luxury and comfort of the new Reef Voyager. It will certainly make their journey to the island far more enjoyable".

Built in Queensland to a world renowned 'Incat Crowther' design, the new twin hull Reef Voyager measures 34.25m and has been designed specifically for a smoother ride in rougher seas. The new sleek design also allows the current transfer time to be reduced by 15 minutes for a new speedy journey of 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Licensed to carry 176 passengers, the Reef Voyager provides travellers with professionally trained staff and hosts, a fully air conditioned cabin, spacious lounge style seating, outdoor seating, tables on both upper and lower decks, onboard kiosk and DVD entertainment. A spectacular view from the Portuguese bridge and bow at the front of the boat also provides passengers with the perfect position for dolphin and whale watching.

A true coral cay situated right on the World Heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef, Heron Island is renowned for its pristine beach environments and variety of magnificent dive locations. From only $152* per person per night, guests can take advantage of the current dive special. Including accommodation, daily breakfast and five standard dives to the Heron or Wistari Reefs, the package is valid until August 31.
