VOYAGES WINS ACCOLADES FOR TOP EXPERIENCES

Wednesday, 25 June 2008

Two Voyages properties have won the top accolades for experiences, as judged by Travelling in Australia Magazine at its inaugural 20 Best Experiences Awards.

Voyages Longitude 131° won the award for Best Luxury Retreat Hotel Experience and Voyages El Questro Homestead won the category for Best Bush Palace.

Nominations were put forward by tourism bodies, which were then judged online in total secrecy by an international panel of Premier Aussie Specialist travel agents.

Voyages Cradle Mountain Lodge, on the edge of the World Heritage Listed Cradle Mountain-Lake St. Clair National Park in Tasmania, was a runner up in the Best Bush Palace Experience category along with the award-winning Waldheim Alpine Spa which was runner up in the Best Spa Experience category.

Voyages Lizard Island, Voyages' most northern island resort on the Great Barrier Reef, tied with Lord Howe Island as runner up for the Best Island Experience category.

Anna Guillan, Voyages Executive General Manager Sales & Marketing, said: "To be recognised for the experiences our properties offer is a fantastic achievement and outlines our commitment to experiential holidays."

"Holidaymakers are no longer content with a 'flop and drop' holiday - they're looking for "bragging rights" where activities and experiences are more important, such as staying in tented luxury at Longitude 131° or dining at El Questro Homestead, in the remoteness of the Kimberley."

Voyages Longitude 131°, perched on a sand dune in the heart of Australia's Red Centre in Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, is a camping experience like no other. Each of the 15 deluxe tents features a king-sized bed, reverse-cycle air-conditioning and spectacular, uninterrupted views of Uluru. This multi award-winning luxury wilderness camp has achieved new heights in ecotourism the world over.

Voyages El Questro Homestead, located within the one million acre El Questro Wilderness Park in the Kimberly region of North Western Australia, boasts the most spectacular accommodation perched over the Chamberlain Gorge.

Voyages El Questro Homestead boasts a fantastic reputation for Homestead-style luxury, exceptional dining and privacy all set within the breathtaking surroundings of the rugged Kimberley landscape. Guests at the Homestead can enjoy a helicopter tour to remote waterholes or view the magnificent beehive-shaped sandstone formations of the World Heritage-listed Bungle Bungles, boating along the magnificent Chamberlain Gorge, horse trekking, or fishing for barramundi.
