As far as offices go, it doesn't really get much better than this! A tiny five-acre coral cay island, located directly on Australia's Great Barrier Reef, Wilson Island is a unique Robinson Crusoe castaway island - with a touch of modern day luxury thrown in!
Wilson Island is both home and the office for newly-appointed island 'caretakers' 33-year-old Kiwi Nathan Sheehan and 26-year-old Aussie Lynda Keane. As Chef and Hosts of Wilson, Nathan and Lynda share this tiny tropical island with Green and Loggerhead turtles, Noddy Terns and Wedge-tailed Shearwaters, the occasional passing Humpback Whale and discerning guests from all over the world.
Whilst Tourism Queensland's search for a caretaker of the Islands of the Great Barrier Reef has gone global Nathan and Lynda already think they have the "best job in the world".
With just six uber-chic safari tents on the islands - their office is an idyllic coral cay right in the heart of Australia's Great Barrier Reef.
"When guests tell us 'you have the best job in world!' the reply is simply yes, it is an amazing place. It is the best job in the world," says Nathan, who was employed on Wilson Island almost a month ago.
As the Wilson Island Chef, Nathan has the opportunity to produce a variety of dishes in a beach-style kitchen, compete with sandy floor!
"As the Wilson Island chef I offer five-star cuisine from fresh food brought in by boat each day. In my beach kitchen, I have the ultimate freedom to create amazing dishes with the sea lapping behind me."
As for Lynda, no two days are the same: "My role is dynamic, creative and challenging. It all takes place in paradise; I am a host, cleaner, nurse and tour guide all in one day!"
With just six tents, there is only ever a maximum of 12 guests on Voyages Wilson Island, meaning the hosts have to adapt to different guest personalities, ages, dietary requirements and being able to unite a mix of people.
