Home Valley Station hosts 4th Pentecost Pro Big Barra Fishing Tournament

Local anglers are gearing up for the 4th annual Pentecost Pro Big Barra Fishing Tournament at Home Valley Station on 3-4 September 2016. With a huge prize pool to be won, an appearance by special guest and MC Merv Hughes, live nightly entertainment and hearty outback fare, the Pentecost Pro is an unmissable end-of-season highlight on the local calendar.

With the Pentecost River teaming with Barramundi at this time of year, locals will vie for the elusive Barramundi over two action-packed days, lured by a $15,000 prize pool and a first prize of $5,000 cash. Anglers of all ages and abilities are encouraged to compete for the chance to hook themselves one of the many generous prizes to be won.

Last year’s winners were Kelly Morgan, who reeled in the Biggest Barra at 106cm, and junior angler Trent Scholte with an impressive 63cm catch.

There is plenty on offer for the whole family, with face painting and sulky rides for the kids and over $3000 worth of prizes to be won. At night, kick back at the iconic Dusty Bar & Grill and enjoy the famous Barra Burger or wood fired pizza with live entertainment by Corey Colum & Band.

Voyages CEO Andrew Williams says, “Local anglers are spoilt for choice with some of the best fishing Australia has to offer, right here in their own backyard. The tournament offers a great opportunity for locals to enjoy the breathtaking gorges and natural waterholes of the spectacular Kimberley region.”

Roll out a swag at the Stations Campground or take advantage of the Kimberley Local Special and stay in style in a Guest House Room for $160* per room per night including breakfast.

Entry for the competition is now open and the entry fee is $130 per adult and $85 for junior entrants (15 years and under). Anglers will need to bring their own fishing equipment and competitors with boats are welcome to dock at Home Valley Station’s boat ramp (tide dependent).
