Voyages aims to grow the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workforce across all its properties and corporate office. We have several strategies in place to recruit, retain and develop Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees. One of the key strategies to build the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workforce is delivering nationally recognised and accredited industry-based training through Voyages’ National Indigenous Training Academy in partnership with two registered training organisations, William Angliss Institute, TAFE & Charles Darwin University.

The Indigenous Traineeship Program commenced in 2011 and provides accredited training to meet the needs of the tourism and hospitality industries. Qualifications currently available include a Certificatte III in Hospitality, Retail and Horticulture.

Trainees are employed by Voyages while completing their traineeship and live in supported residential accommodation throughout their traineeship. A key component of the traineeship is a 24 hour/ seven day a week residential support program to assist trainees successfully complete the traineeship and manage the challenges of living and working in a remote location.
