Mossman Gorge Centre

Mossman Gorge lies 77km north of Cairns, 20km north of Port Douglas and approx 2km from the township of Mossman.

Mossman Gorge Centre

With the development of the Mossman Gorge Centre, a World Heritage listed rainforest environment will be protected and Indigenous jobs and training opportunities created as part of the world class eco-tourism visitor and interpretive centre at the entrance to the iconic Mossman Gorge north of Cairns.

The Mossman Gorge Centre is the central hub for all things Mossman Gorge and is staffed by local residents with a breadth of knowledge on the area. At the Centre you will find an official welcome area, a contemporary café, art gallery, gift shop and tour desk.

One of the major problems that faced the Mossman Gorge area before the development of the Mossman Gorge Centre was the high amount of tourist traffic that would use the roads leading into the Gorge. With the area part of the World Heritage Listed Daintree Rainforest, it is vital that every effort is made to ensure the protection of this beautiful landmark for future generations.

The low-emission shuttle bus service operated from the Centre is one of the crucial steps taken to ensure sustainability. The bus service transports visitors safely into the heart of Mossman Gorge for a small fee and visitors can park their car in one of the many spots available at the Centre.

Journey into the lush rainforest of Mossman Gorge and experience the wonders of the World Heritage-listed Daintree Rainforest. All the while immersing yourself in its enchanting stories and rich Indigenous heritage. Connect with the lives, culture and beliefs of the local Kuku Yalanji community and experience, first hand, their connection to the natural environment.
