We are seeking a Chef Team Leader to join our kitchen Team at Mossman Gorge Cultural Centre.

Embraced by one of the world's most beautiful locations, the Mossman Gorge Cultural Centre is an enticing destination to introduce visitors to both the stunning natural beauty of the Daintree and the rich culture of the Kuku Yalanji people.

We are seeking an Experienced Chef to join our team full-time at the Mayi Café. You will be reliable, trustworthy, and confident working in a busy commercial kitchen, supporting the Operations Manager while leading by example.

Key Duties
  • Prepare, cook, and serve food to a high standard each day
  • Assist the Operations Manager with coordinating kitchen activities including stock control, rotation, ordering, and stocktaking
  • Maintain compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards at all times
  • Ensure recipes and menus are kept up to date, incorporating Indigenous ingredients where possible
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, setting a professional example in conduct and presentation

You will have:
  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or completed Cooking Apprenticeship
  • At least 3 years’ experience cooking in a café or restaurant environment in a supervisory role
  • Strong leadership and team management skills to motivate and support staff
  • First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • Good oral English communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure
