Outback Fun at the Seventh Uluru Camel Cup

Tuesday, 07 May 2019

On 24-25 May 2019, Ayers Rock Resort will again play host to the Uluru Camel Cup – a fun-filled weekend of activities celebrating authentic Aussie outback adventure.

Festivities kick off at the atmospheric Outback Pioneer Hotel & Bar on Friday night with boot scooting, live entertainment and the opportunity to bid on a favourite camel at the lively Camel Cup Calcutta. Guests can enjoy a traditional Aussie dinner at the Bough House Restaurant, with a spit roast and outback-style buffet.

Saturday’s celebrated Uluru Camel Cup Race Day begins with qualifying races followed by an exciting Dash for Cash, Plate Race and the Uluru Camel Cup itself. Off the track there is plenty to see and do for the whole family with stock whip demonstrations, wheel barrow races, kids’ sack race and even a camel dung throwing competition. Guests are encouraged to dress up and take part in the popular Fashions on the Field, complete with a parade and presentation. A kids club will be available on the day as well as lively outback-style markets.

The weekend will culminate with a true blue Frock Up & Rock Up Gala Ball set under the sparkling outback night sky, complete with a red desert dance floor, light BBQ style supper and live entertainment.

Grant Hunt, Voyages CEO, commented: “We are delighted to see the return of the Uluru Camel Cup. This exciting event is a must-do on every outback traveller’s list and truly embraces the outback nature of our location.”

An entry fee applies for the Camel Cup Race Day and Frock Up & Rock Up Gala Ball.
