14 May 2026
Guests visiting Ayers Rock Resort, Uluru this National Reconciliation Week can gather around the campfire, watch Indigenous art come to life, and take part in hands-on cultural experiences led by Anangu – the Traditional Owners of Uluru.
Running from 27 May to 3 June 2026 and developed around the ‘All In’ theme, this year’s program centres on Anangu-led storytelling and art, with experiences designed to encourage listening and learning.
A highlight for 2026 is Culture at the Campfire, where guests will gather at Ayers Rock Campground beneath the desert night sky as senior Aṉangu share stories, language, kinship, and practices to help care for Country.
The Gallery of Central Australia (GoCA) will host a special presentation featuring the artwork brought to life in the Resort’s acclaimed Sunrise Journeys dawn experience. The showcase will share stories behind Ngura Nganampa Wiru Mulapa - “Our Country is Truly Beautiful” - and its artists’ deep connection to Country.
GoCA will also host Canvas Connections tours where guests can explore artworks that reflect moments of reconciliation and resistance, including the works of Papunya Tula Artists – highly regarded artists of the Western Desert.
Across Town Square, guests can take part in hands-on cultural activities - including traditional spear-throwing demonstrations – or join a curated Walk Through Time display, highlighting key moments in Australia’s shared history that continue to shape our future.
Guests can also contribute to the Anangu Communities Foundation – which supports locally-led initiatives across the region, including education, health and community wellbeing programs – as part of the celebrations.
“National Reconciliation Week is a major highlight on the calendar every year,” says Voyages Tourism Australia CEO Matt Cameron-Smith. “This year, we invite guests to come together with Anangu to share campfire stories, take part in traditional practices and learn about art, giving them a real understanding of culture and a deeper respect for our shared history.”
National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving recognition in Australia. The week marks the 1967 referendum and the Mabo decision – two key milestones in reconciliation. National Reconciliation Week is supported by Reconciliation Australia and invites Australians to learn about shared histories, cultures and achievements. The 2026 theme, ‘All In For Reconciliation’ encourages Australians to “step away from the sidelines and take actions that create change.
Ayers Rock Resort is proud to partner with Anangu. Whatever the time of year, every visitor supports programs that strengthen culture, create opportunity and ensure tourism delivers real benefit for Anangu communities.
