18 September 2023

When Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia recognised 15 new graduates from the National Indigenous Training Academy (NITA) program, the organisation marked a major milestone, bringing the total number of graduates to 659 since the program's inception in 2011.

The event, held at Ayers Rock Resort on Saturday afternoon, was attended by the proud trainees and their families along with Board members and Senior Executives from Voyages and parent organisation, the Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation (ILSC).

NITA was established to deliver market-leading training and employment programs for young Indigenous Australians. In partnership with the William Angliss Institute and Far North Training Consultancy, NITA delivers nationally recognised Level 3 certification traineeships in Hospitality, Tourism and Retail at Ayers Rock Resort, NT and Mossman Gorge Cultural Centre, QLD.

"We are really proud of the NITA program which provides not just job opportunities but career pathways for Indigenous Australians," said Matthew Cameron-Smith, CEO of Voyages.

"Our goal at Voyages is to ensure these young people are provided with skills for life and many of them go on to work with us long-term. We are one of the largest Indigenous employers in Australia, and we're committed to our ongoing work to empower a growing Indigenous workforce across the country." Cameron-Smith concluded.
