Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia (Voyages) has once again been certified a "Great Place to Work" in the benchmarking program delivered by the respected global authority on workplace culture, cementing Voyages' status as one of the country's leading tourism and hospitality employers.

The recent organisation-wide survey showed an overall improvement of 3% compared to last year's performance. Some of the key statements include:

  • 82% of team members enjoy working with their team
  • 82% of team members say they are treated fairly regardless of their sexual orientation
  • 82% of team members say they are made to feel welcome when they join the company
  • 80% of team members say that Voyages provides a culturally safe place to work
  • 79% of team members say that they are proud to work for Voyages

"I'm incredibly proud of our team and the important work they do to promote and empower Indigenous tourism," said Matt Cameron-Smith, CEO of Voyages. "These results reflect our shared commitment to Voyages' purpose and I commend all those who participated. The open and honest feedback from our team helps us grow, improve and continue to attract the brightest talent to our business."

Voyages is known for its commitment to authentic cultural tourism and Indigenous empowerment across two primary tourism operations - Ayers Rock Resort, Uluru and Mossman Gorge Cultural Centre, Far North Queensland - together with its corporate office in Sydney, NSW.

Around 30% of Voyages' 900+ strong workforce is Indigenous - 27% of those in leadership roles - and many team members joined the business via Voyages' industry-leading National Indigenous Training Academy (NITA).

A 'Great Place to Work' is defined as one in which employees trust the people they work for and have pride in what they do and enjoy the people with whom they work. The "Great Place to Work" survey probes employee relationships with their management, colleagues and work. The dimensions measured are credibility, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie.
